Awasu 2.0.1.alpha4
IMPORTANT: This is an alpha release. Some features are not
complete and you will find bugs!
If you have not done so already, please read the release notes for
alpha2 and alpha3.
Some things in this document may not make sense otherwise.
Installation
If you have already installed alpha2, do not install
this release on top of it. It won't work. Instead, go back to your saved
2.0 installation (you did save it, right...?) and install on top of that.
If you have installed alpha3, you can just unpack this release on top of it.
In either case, you also need to copy over the .TEMPLATE files from
$/Resources/Channel Summary Templates to your user's Channel Summary Templates
sub-diectory e.g.
C:\Program Files\Awasu\Resources\Channel Summary Templates\*.template
=> C:\Program Files\Awasu\Users\YOUR-NAME\Channel Summary Templates
Here's the release: Awasu-PersonalEdition-v2.0.1.alpha4a.zip
(Windows 98/Me users should unpack this zip instead).
Release notes
-
Optimized the opening of channel windows (especially those that have just received
new content). The UI should be a lot snappier now, especially when lots of
channel updates are in progress.
-
Fixed the crash that was happening after optimizing the archive database.
-
Correctly flag items as new if a new revision is received, even if it has
been marked as read.
-
Expanded the list of SGML entities that get fixed up in item titles, etc.
Also added the ability to define your own.
-
Added a new feature that identifies channels that have had too many errors
or haven't received new content in a while and gives you the option of
deleting them (Tools|Clean up channels).
-
Added the ability to browse to an item's description in the channel summary
from the item pane (instead of following the item's link). You can do this by
holding down the Control key when clicking on item pane entries.
-
You can now use Ctrl-Up/Down to scroll the Control Center and item panes.
-
Added an option to automatically remove or leave items in the Read-me list
when they are clicked (Display page of the Program Options). Whatever the setting.
it can be reversed by holding down the Control key when clicking on an entry.
-
Changed the way Awasu decides when to start and stop the system tray animation.
-
Do auto-discovery if the URL supplied to the Channel Wizard is not a valid feed.
-
Bug fixes :-)
