Awasu 2.0.4.alpha2

IMPORTANT: This is an alpha release. Some features are not complete and you will find bugs!

You must be already running 2.0.4.alpha1. To install:

Unpack one (!) of the following zips on top of your existing installation:
Run ArchiveMaintenance.exe and rebuild the search index.

Release notes

This release fixes a lot of the problems the search engine was having. In particular, query parsing should work reliably now and queries that used to crash Awasu should be processed correctly. The search engine still occasionally has difficulty but it should no longer bring Awasu down.
This also means it is now safe to create search agents. Awasu sometimes had difficulty if a search agent was running a query that caused it to crash since one of the first things that happens after startup is that the search agents are run which would cause Awasu to fall over before you had a chance to delete the offending search agent :rolleyes:
Added a switch to exclude channels from the search index. This is useful for channels that provide item descriptions of dubious value. For example, indexing this feed will skew search results if you're looking for something that includes "BBC" or "Reuters".
Added a switch to turn on and off the "advanced syntax" for search queries. Turning advanced syntax off disables all of the special characters that are normally recognized. For example, "foo?" will no longer match "foot", it will only match exactly "foo?".

Other stuff

Changed the way Awasu checks if the computer is connected to the Internet. Unfortunately, the process is still not 100% reliable (mostly if you connect via a LAN) but there has been a lot more flexibility built in so let us know if you're having problems and I'll give you some things to try.
IMPORTANT: Regardless of what you had configured previously, this option will be turned on when you install this alpha. Ain't it fun being an alpha tester...? :-)
Fixed a bug in the way Awasu was parsing URL's passed in via the feed:// protocol (URL's would sometimes appear in the Channel Wizard with a double "http://http://" or something similar).
Apostrophes and single quotes are now encoded for the ENCODED-CHANNEL-NAME report parameter.
The currently-selected channel in the My Channels window is now preserved across sessions. Not only that, it even carries over as part of a sync! Don't say I never aim to please! :-)
Show last feed now shows a formatted summary of the last feed instead of the XML. Hold down the SHIFT key when choosing the menu item to get the XML.
When showing the XML for a channel's last feed, Awasu has always generated a temp file with a .TXT extension and shown that. The reason for this is that users will often be using this feature when the feed is not working. Using a .XML extension would open the file in IE (by default), with its neato expanding/collapsing XML tree thingy, that doesn't work if the XML is invalid :rolleyes: However, if you have .XML associated with an application that can handle invalid XML nicely, you can change the file extension that Awasu uses for the temp file. Exit Awasu, open CONFIG.INI and look for the ShowFeedXmlFileExtn entry.
Other minor bug fixes and tweaks.
