Release notes

A number of features have been re-distributed between the different editions of Awasu. If you have purchased the Advanced Edition and this is an issue for you, please contact us and we'll make sure that you are not disadvantaged.

Advanced Edition users can get their downloads here:
    Windows NT/2000/XP
    Windows 98/Me

This release also sees the introduction of the Professional Edition. If you are going to use Awasu for commercial purposes, this is the only edition of Awasu that is licensed for such use. Advanced Edition users can upgrade their software here.

What's new

The major changes in this release are:
  • Awasu now archives feed content.
  • A sophisticated search engine that lets you search your archived content.
  • Search agents that constantly monitor your feeds for content of interest.
  • Support for podcasting (enclosures).
  • Native support for Atom feeds.
Full details about this version can be found in the online help.

Known issues

  • If you have channels that have received a lot of new items since you last looked at them, this can slow down Awasu down and cause the GUI to become sluggish.

The workaround is to open these channels regularly so that these items are no longer flagged as new. You can also check the .CHANNEL files in your user's Channels sub-directory (e.g. C:\Program Files\Awasu\Users\YOUR-NAME\Channels) and look for files that are bigger than about 50 Kb since these are likely to be slowing Awasu down.

  • Feeds from certain web servers can cause Awasu to start using 100% of CPU and stop responding. This is a bug in Windows and can be worked around by installing this update to Awasu.
