Worked.

Using the debug.ini solution, 2.0.4 was able to read the sync file. All settings came through, and I was able to upgrade to 2.0.5. Glad to hear that this is in the "not known not to work" rather than "known not to work" category! Thanks again for the support, and the great tool.

Would this work?

If 2.0.3 is the only thing that can process the file, can I set my system clock back six months, process the file, then install 2.0.4 and 2.0.5? Is it likely to break something else? I'm running Win2k. Most of the unix apps I'm familar with are pretty forgiving of future dates, unless you're running...

Am I hosed?

I had a disk crash. I reinstalled Awasu Personal from scratch (2.0->2.0.1->2.0.2->2.0.3->2.0.4->2.0.5). Then I went to load my sync data (stored elsewhere, thank heavens.) Oops. The lastest awasu.sync I have is from 2.0.3. Neither 2.0.4 or 2.0.5 will read it. And Awasu 2.0.3 won't run, since it's ex...

Fixed

You are correct. Using the new template file contained in your earlier post has corrected the problem.

Thanks!

Doesn't work for me?

Hmmm. Just upgraded to 1.2 (free), and it doesn't like the generated OPML, using the standard template. <?xml version="1.0"?> <opml version="1.1"> <head> <title>OPML Export</title> </head> <body> <outline xmlUrl="http://3goats.com/rod/blah/rss.xml"/> <outline xmlUrl=&qu...

OPML too sparse? Winer's list

Over at Scripting News http://archive.scripting.com/2004/01/02#When:6:10:02AM , Dave is collecting OPML files. Awasu users are having a hard time contributing. It's not clear if the OPML file is missing required elements, or Dave's application is asking too much. More info at http://feeds.scripting....

Workaround

The feeds seem to work if you turn off descriptions.

http://www.oreillynet.com/meerkat/index.php?&p=1065&_fl=rss&_de=0

Why the heck would you embed an â at the beginning of the description?

Is this valid RSS?

Awasu chokes on some Meerkat feeds, such as <http://www.oreillynet.com/meerkat/?p=1065&_fl=rss10>. Turns out that IE also chokes, giving: <pre> The XML page cannot be displayed Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later...

UI Setup should persist

Feature request: More UI settings should persist across Awasu shutdown. For example, in the control center, if CTL-SHFT-U is used to display only those feeds having unread items, this should be the default when Awasu next starts. Another example: I use both the General Toolbar and Channels toolbar. ...

Proxy Auth Password Corruption?

If you set up Proxy Authentication it does not work across sessions. If this is the intent, it should be documented. To reproduce: 1) Tools->Options->Preferences->Advanced->Proxy Authentication 2) Enter a username and password, then click OK out of all dialogs. 3) Update a channel to verify that the...
