Re: Problems with Twitter Feed/RSS and Syncing Awasu on othe

Hi Charlie, I'm a happy 6-year Awasu Pro user... I haven't sync'd between PCs before so I can't help you with that but, regarding Twitter and Awasu, about a year ago I started working on a Channel Plugin for Awasu that will allow you to subscribe to one or more Twitterer's Tweets as an RSS feed. I'v...

Re: Using Awasu as RSS reader for SharePoint

This probably won't help, but I'll mention it anyway: Awasu allows you to control how long a feed item is archived, with the minimum value being 1 day. This "Keep content for" setting can be set globally and/or individually on a feed-by-feed basis. So you could easily set Awasu to do a ful...

Re: Help with a plugin

Ok I created a couple of simple PHP pages to test this I'm this sure this will work. import datetime import random import re import urllib2 # define the URLs as a Dictionary with an initial count of zero # add more links as necessary urls = { "link1" : "0" , "link2" : &...

Re: Help with a plugin

Now that I had more time to look at this, I realize that the error you received was because your values are actually string data type even though they contain a number, they need to be explicitly converted to a number, where in my random number example I was always dealing with a integer data type. ...

Re: Help with a plugin

It might be that one of the links isn't returning a number and that's why the sum() function is failing. Also, looking back I see that I probably shouldn't have used the "sum" for a variable name since it's also a built in function name, although it didn't cause a problem for me, it's not ...

Re: Help with a plugin

My life is transformed! I agree! Awasu has transformed a portion of my life for the better! :) Of course there's more than one way to achieve this goal, and my version is probably not the most elegant, but it seems to work, providing the total in the feed item's title and feed-by-feed counts in the...

Re: New (perspective) user and questions

This may not directly have helped this problem as the DLL dependency wasn't easily discernible, but it might help in some future problems. This simple one-line batch file gives you the ability to type something like which msvcr71.dll and find that the the first instance of the msvcr71.dll in your %P...

Re: Help with a plugin

If you are running the Pro Edition, you can use an XSLT. Wow, I've written XSLT extensions for Awasu before, but I didn't realize that the initial XML source document doesn't have to be an Atom or RSS format. So with the Pro Edition, you can basically subscribe to any XML document! That's cool! 8) ...

Subscribing to Twitter Atom & RSS feeds (10/10/2012 onward)

On 10/10/2012, Twitter stopped serving Atom & RSS feeds using ye olde style URLs: ⋅  http://twitter.com/statuses/user_timeline/{USERNAME}.atom ⋅  http://twitter.com/statuses/user_timeline/{USERNAME}.rss Since they are returning an HTTP 404 (not found) status code, which provi...

Re: Can't run Awasu after compacting database

I'm not an expert on this but you might check your config.ini file. I just did a little config.ini file hacking to confirm this. config.ini should be stored in a location like this on Windows XP where [User Name] is your user name: C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Application Data\Awasu\config....

Re: Sample Python channel plugin

I've used the ActiveState distribution of Python where it registers the file extensions upon installation so I've never had too much trouble with issues like this. There are some commands you can type at the Command Prompt and environment variables you can modify to reduce this " C:\path\to\pyt...

Re: More flexibility in the deletion of feed with errors

...so that you don't display channels that have already been deleted in the current session. That's why I started deleting the .CHANNEL files. I noticed that while the call to the Awasu API worked in deleting the Channel from Awasu, if you immediately ran the script again it would list the same Cha...

Re: More flexibility in the deletion of feed with errors

The threshold for no recent content the Clean-up channels dialog uses can be configured by opening your CONFIG.INI file and changing the NoRecentContentInterval value (number of days). Wow, as much as I've learned about Awasu, I still have a lot to learn. Sorry Guys I've had this sitting tin my Dra...

Re: feeds all in red!

I know I'm late to this party, but I'll just add that using a local HTTP Proxy like Fiddler will allow you to see the http requests/responses that Awasu sends when you update a Channel: Here's a successful request/response: GET http://feeds.feedburner.com/oreilly/ebookdealoftheday?format=xml HTTP/1....

Re: Server status

I agree that sending a request and to $/buildInfo is the best way to determine if the Awasu API is available. FWIW there are ways to tell if Awasu is running on a specific PC/Server. The example below uses Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) to determine if an execuatble named "awasu.exe&q...
