But I do have no experience coding VBS. That's ok, at one time in their lives, every person has had no programming experience. Even the people who've built great software like Google's Search engine or Awasu all started with "no experience". I'm interested in resolving this too as I'll be...

Re: "Save as MHT" Send to Tool

Picard , you found Awasu's forums due to your search for a command line tool to save a web page as an MHT file, and you've downloaded Awasu to get the gmht.exe utility and run my VBScript. You may not realize it, but in finding Awasu, you've found the best Atom/RSS/feed software available. I urge y...

Re: Timestamp formatting problem

I upgraded to 2.4.1 alpha 2 a couple of days ago, re-tested this problem and after some initial difficulties, it appears that this problem is resolved. Here's the details of those "initial difficulties": I still have feed item (" Ruby Proxies for Scale and Monitoring ") that I re...

Re: Automatically sending channel output to Workpads

Just to provide some closure to this thread... May 5, 2009 I created a Channel Hook that adds all of a Channel's new feed items to Awasu's Default Workpad. The Channel Hook is available for download here ( Taka even had some kinds words to say on his weblog ). May 23, 2009 Taka has added a much impr...

Re: encode and bad charactors in RSS

 Of course! Awasu's Activity & Error logs, why didn't we mention them earlier? It's been a long time since I had to look at the Awasu's Activity & Error logs, so I completely forgot about them. I think the point of all these troubleshooting tips, is to not try to stop Awasu from updati...

Re: encode and bad charactors in RSS

Jerry , you mentioned a couple of times that you are troubleshooting problem feeds; I've got another approach that may work for you. Download, install and get familiar with an HTTP Proxy/Sniffer. I've used Fiddler for several years and it's pretty good. It can log all of the HTTP calls made by any ...

Re: encode and bad charactors in RSS

Taka , I'll try to test the RAM disk in the next couple of weeks and give you some timed results. "TempFileDir" setting in the DEBUG.INI file... :D I guess the old saying is still true: "Where there's Awasu, there's a way!" Also, it is pretty time consuming to find out which cha...

Re: encode and bad charactors in RSS

I probably shouldn't post in my current condition, I just drank a large glass of carrot juice, so if I say anything goofy it's the Vitamin A talking... ...just pull the network cable out  I love simple solutions! My firewall has a "Stop all Internet Activity" panic button, that I cou...

Re: encode and bad charactors in RSS

Since jerrymartin brought up updating options, I'll just throw out a couple of things that I had in the back of my mind, and Taka you don't even need to qualify them with a reply. I'm using Awasu at home, where it does not run 100% of the time, I don't even have Awasu set to run when Windows starts ...

Re: encode and bad charactors in RSS

...if you need to look in the documentation to figure out how something works, there's something wrong with your UI and/or implementation. Ok, if you can think of a better way to label the UI components in the Proccesing dialog box, that'd be great. But I didn't really mean to imply that you needed...

Re: encode and bad charactors in RSS

And I take your point about the "pre-" and "post-" labels being confusing. It's not too confusing. Since your help file clearly explains when XSLT processing occurs and there's a help file link right in the "Processing" dialog box, I think anybody who delves this deeps...

Re: We are not there yet - Outgoing Server Authentication

Yesterday I looked at Brinkster's Knowledge Base and found the correct authentication settings to send email using the CDO library. https://help.brinkster.com/KB/a8/how-do-i-send-an-email-with-asp.aspx I got a VBScript version to work, but that's all the time I had yesterday. Today I tried to port t...

Re: encode and bad charactors in RSS

Maybe Jerry meant that his document is " well formed " but not " valid "; there's a definitely a difference; and I know Taka knows the difference. The warning about bad characters in the feed (\x95 and \x96) are a similar kind of thing. If you are generating feeds created from co...

Re: Thanks... Sending Email using Python...

Onticara , the code you provided that sets the "DisableOOMWarnings" property can only be used if you've have purchased add-in-express 's "Security Manager", that costs $149. There are other ways to send email; so unless you really need some special Outlook functionality ( see be...

Re: Getting News Data Structure witin a hook

Onticara , here's a debugging tip from my upcoming eBook: " True Confessions of an Awasu Junkie " Python debugging First off, if you are not using PythonWin as your Python editor give it a try and learn to use its debugging features so that you can set breakpoints, step through your code,...
