Re: Channel Hook example

This page is helpful when writing Awasu extensions: Extensibility Skillsets It lists the basic "programming" skills needed to build each type of Awasu extension. For Channel Hooks, you need to be able to read INI files, as a path to a INI file is what Awasu will pass to your Channel Hook. ...

Re: Unencoding character entities

I should have mentioned that I used the chars= setting in conjunction with the encode= setting. Here's one of the feeds that exhibit the encoding: http://www.awasu.com/weblog/?feed=atom Take a look at the blog post on Dutch Tilders, for a couple of examples of ’ or ’ dependin...

Unencoding character entities

In my Channel Report output I'm getting characters encoded like this ’ and “ as well as several others. These appear no matter what "Feed Content" setting I use, even "Plain text". I've also tried encode=sgml and encode=percent settings, with no luck; ...

Re: USB

Yes you can. Once it's set up it works great, although it is somewhat slower that when run from a hard drive. If you need to you can synchronize your feed read/unread statuses between the two installations. There's this wiki page on Portable Mode and this one of Moving user data files . One potentia...

Re: Script Error

Hi ken1943 , When you say "IE9 script settings are ok." does that mean that "Disable script debugging (Internet Explorer)" and "Disable script debugging (Other)" are both enabled ( i.e. "checked" or "ticked"). I haven't installed IE9 yet so maybe Mic...

Re: Purchasing after trial-- have to reinstall?

murdoch , welcome to the Awasu Pro club. Great software, btw! Yes it it, couldn't agree more! This may not sound like an endorsement at first but keep reading... My desktop Awasu installation just had a problem where it wouldn't start, I just had a big white area within Awasu's window frame. Even a...

We really missed you around here, kevo... ::-): It's good to be here! :D I would have like to reply sooner but couldn't find the time, and as it was my reply was totally incomplete... ⋅ There's the customizable Item Pane. ⋅ The fact that Awasu lets you organize the same feed int...

Re: Google Reader

Did you take the Tour , or examine the feature list ? Your choice of software is highly personal, but here's a few of the things that set Awasu apart from other feed readers: Feed-by-feed customization Awasu is highly customizable, both in way feeds are retrieved and archived and in the way they are...

Re: Right click on hot link opens in default browser

Workpads It sounds like you now understand that Workpad's can display a feed item's title instead of a URL. When I use "Send to --> Workpad" from the Item Pane, Browser Pane, or the Edit menu the feed item is added to Workpad and the feed item's title text is displayed. I see that your Ex...

Re: Right click on hot link opens in default browser

Sorry I've been away for a while. In my absence this thread has morphed from a feature request to a bug report. Of course I've got perspectives on both, which I may post separately. Let's discuss your original request You want to be able to quickly open feed items or other URLs in Google Chrome but ...

Re: When you say display x items, what actually happens?

So to summarize... When you set the "Show the last" setting in the "Tools, Options, Display" dialog or in a individual Channel's "Properties, Channel" dialog to a value such as 20, Awasu will still add all new feed items to it's archive database, but will only display t...

Re: Delayed write failure

I use this to run a RAM disk and put all my temp files there. Of course, I've got 8GB of memory... A couple years ago we discussed using a RAM disk to speed up a portable Awasu installation . Maybe I'll finally get around to giving it a try. I should probably also add some additional RAM ...

Re: Delayed write failure

I don't have a flash drive base netbook, so maybe this doesn't apply... :lost: By the way keepfeed , do you ever delete all of the temp files that accumulate from web browser caching, the %TEMP% folder etc? I run CCleaner periodically before a Defrag to remove a lot of the useless junk. By removing ...

Re: A great minimalist template other users may like

This is a nice clean layout! I like it! ::-): Thanks keepfeed ! The only problem I see is that the hyperlink text is a little low-contrast for my eyes, but that's easily tweakable. If you get anymore ideas, don't hesitate to post them to the forum; or better yet, when they are finalized the Extensio...
