Re: after 3.1 upgrade problem with Reuters feeds

Back to today's test (29may17), the link fails in Awasu, but succeeds in IE, which doesn't make any sense to me. None of this is a big deal for me, as these types of crashes are very rare, and when I do encounter them I use "Open in default browser" to open the page in Firefox, but I thou...

Re: after 3.1 upgrade problem with Reuters feeds

I take it the page opens OK in IE?

IE has some sort of crash protection that it wraps around the MSHTML control (probably the "recovering webpage" thing you see sometimes), that other apps don't get, so a page will open OK in IE, but crashes in something else that has an embedded browser :(

Re: after 3.1 upgrade problem with Reuters feeds

OK, I've tried and I've tried, but I can't get Awasu to crash. I s'pose I should take that as a good thing  Try setting the registry key to 11000 or 11001 (decimal). You won't be able to do in RegEdit, since Awasu will overwrite it when it starts up, so create a DEBUG.INI file like this: [Enha...

Re: after 3.1 upgrade problem with Reuters feeds

 You think of everything! Yah, just don't forget to turn it off again  BTW, I got a crash dump from him when he tried this, so the crash handler is working, just not in this particular case (same as for you). Open the URL inside Awasu, but outside the channel (File|Open web page), displa...

Re: after 3.1 upgrade problem with Reuters feeds

Also crashes if try inside Awasu, but outside the channel (any of the File|Open web page/tab options) but will (File|open|new window) OK. Are you talking about the menu options in a separate IE window, running outside of Awasu? I was referring to the File|Open web page menu option inside Awasu. Oth...

Re: after 3.1 upgrade problem with Reuters feeds

After recent 3.1 upgrade, Awasu gives “Awasu has stopped working “ error whenever I access a Reuters site. The URL you gave is for a normal HTML page, not a feed, so I'm guessing you mean Awasu crashes whenever you try to open a Reuters web page...? Does the crash handler come up? It should offer t...

Re: Can't start portable installation of Awasu

Try removing the _PORTABLE file - does Awasu start? Does the path in the error message look correct? i.e. if Awasu is installed in C:\AWASU , then the path should be C:\AWASU\Users\portable\config.ini Create a file called Users\portable\debug.ini that looks like this: [MessageLog] Startup = 1 and tr...

Re: How to get channels out of Awasu using the API?

There are a few settings that control what feed items are returned. If you open a channel's Properties dialog , at the bottom-right of the first tab, you'll see 3 settings: ⋅  Show feed items ⋅  Show the last ⋅  Feed content They're probably set to "Default" ,...

Re: Virus in Awasu?

Awasu get data from Awasu servers? What does mean? Ads are identified by looking for certain content embedded in the feed. Awasu regularly downloads rules from awasu.com for identifying this content, so if the advertisers change how they embed their ads in feeds, we can update these rules and your ...

Re: Awasu running more slowly

So feeds generated from search will not updates on new settings, but only when I click on them? Search channels run a search query, the same as if you did one yourself from the UI, and returns the results as a feed. So, if you're restricting search index updates, you need to first update the search...

Re: Awasu running more slowly

Please don't  to hard, the SSD is from 2016, the NVIDA video card is from 2010 or 2011, and the rest of the PC is from 2008. No, it's good to hear that Awasu still runs well on older hardware :) But this reminded me of another possible explanation: virus checkers are notorious for slowing thin...

Re: Awasu running more slowly

I change option as you sugested two post above get me a lof of crushes. After rebuild database Awasu start working normaly and update content. Is that a normal behaviour? No, crashes are never normal :) It's just a coincidence you got a corruption in the search index at the same time you changed th...

Re: Virus in Awasu?

Where should be a icon? It will appear inline in the browser page, at the point where the content was removed (it has a little Awasu logo, and says "content removed'). In cases like this, you can set up a little test feed in a file on your PC, with, say, a <script> tag in the item content, the...

Re: Awasu running more slowly

Another thing to try is reduce how long content is archived for (Program Options, Archive tab, Keep content for). Awasu deletes content as it gets old, so the less there is in the database, the faster things will run.

Re: Awasu running more slowly

It's almost certainly the search index. The way it works, it's much slower adding 100 documents one-at-a-time, than adding 100 documents as a single batch. The default configuration for Awasu is one-at-a-time, so that documents will be returned as search results as soon as they arrive, but this gets...
