Re: FeedDeamon 4.5 migration to Awasu

Once you've got 3.0.3 set up, open this in a browser: http://localhost:2604/channels/list?format=html&token=XXX where XXX is the API token. You can get this from the Advanced tab of the Program options, or if you delete it there, you won't need to include it in the URL. You can restrict what cha...

Re: FeedDeamon 4.5 migration to Awasu

Could you advice me how start test new beta? I've sent you an email. choose "Show how many channels are in each My Channels folder" Allright I do this, but can I show how many new/unread feeds items is in the folder? Ah, I see what you want now. Awasu doesn't do this in the UI, but this i...

Re: FeedDeamon 4.5 migration to Awasu

To answer the other question from your email, if you want to show the number of channels in a folder, open the Program Options dialog, go to the Display tab, click on "My Channels", and choose "Show how many channels are in each My Channels folder".

Re: FeedDeamon 4.5 migration to Awasu

After few years I would change my default RSS to improve my productivity. Import channels is not a problem, but I have few migration questions. I use Awasu Profesional Edition 3.0 trial. Welcome aboard, always happy to see refugees from Feed Demon come over to this side :-) Awasu 3.0 is quite old n...

Re: Filters

Sigh... I didn't think of that - you want a job?

I s'pose it's indicative of the power of Awasu that you can combine the features together in a way that even the author didn't think of :wall:

Re: Filters

Filters are a UI thing i.e. Awasu always stores all the items received on a channel, and the filters control what gets shown at any given time. You can see the effect of this by changing a filter's configuration, or adding/removing them. The SendEmail hook gets called whenever new feed items are rec...

Re: help transfering downloaded feeds to a CMS platform

Most CMS's have an API for creating content, so it should be possible. If this is a one-off thing, you could use Awasu's API to extract your feed content, then push it into the CMS. If you want to do it on an on-going basis, you would want to write a channel hook , which is a little program that Awa...

Re: Website changes monitor?

FWIW, Taka and I have previously discussed a Webscrape-like Awasu plugin that would either use XPath-like expressions or CSS-selectors to extract the desired parts of an HTML page Yah, I actually have a prototype of this running, where you can point-and-click at parts of a web page and it will gene...

Re: Website changes monitor?

The problem we have now is that pages are so dynamic that if their embedded twitter feed updates, the program sends us a "page updated" email. When all we want is the update of the schedules/calendars. As I'm sure you already know, monitoring web pages is an inherently messy business, and...

Re: DownloadFiles channel plugin error

I've sent you a new version of the plugin. It has new parameters that let you run a regex over each download URL, then generate a new URL based on what it found. To fix this particular problem, set them as follows: (*) URL regex = ^(.*)\.gov:(.*)$ (*) URL template = {1}.gov{2} There ...

They may have blocked your IP address.

I'll also add something to add a delay between downloading each file.

Re: DownloadFiles channel plugin error

I note that the links in the web page have an extra colon in them (after the .gov). I'm not sure if this is legal or not, but I ran a quick hacked-up version of the plugin that removes it, and it seems to work. I'll get a new version to you tomorrow...

Re: Can't send the HTTP request: error

Can't send the HTTP request: http://www.awasu.com/news.rss Can you open the URL in a browser? Or try using "Open web page" from Awasu's File menu and enter the URL there. If you can, the most likely explanation is that Awasu is being blocked by something e.g. a firewall running on your ma...

Re: Monitoring a web page

You need to scrape the page (that is, write a little program that checks the page and extracts the information you're interested in) and convert the results into an RSS feed. Awasu has a plugin that can do this, although you need to be fairly technical to use it. And while it still works, it was wri...
