Is there a way to populate a twitter posting from an item in Awasu?

I'm just looking for a 'right click' type of efficency rather than copy and paste.

It's never easy. Never.

In the "Oranise sent-to's" box, do I use the properites button to add my Twitter login details?

Regarding the advice to add "?source=twitterandroid" to the end. The end of what?

It is easy...

  • Yes, click the "Properties" button and add your "User name" and "Password".
  • Add "?source=twitterandroid" to the end of the "Command" so that it looks like this.

Code: Select all

We do try to make it easy, honestly :) As kevotheclone pointed out, you can edit the tool's properties to enter your account details but even if you don't do this, Awasu will prompt you for them the first time you use the tool.

Having said that, it looks like Twitter have closed this loophole and, along with many other third-party applications, broken things :| I'll take a look at it in the morning.

Okay thanks. Let me know when you work out how to break the Twitter code!

Yah, I'm going to have to agree with you on this one :|

Twitter have really made a meal of things and dealing with their API is a non-trivial operation. It's geared much more towards larger applications, rather than the quick-and-dirty "just post this" kind of thing Awasu needs.

So, the short answer is: it should be possible but it's rather a lot of work. Someone familiar with OAuth might be able to whip something up quickly but I'm flat out with some other stuff right now... :whip:

No stress. Sounds like you could go to a lot of trouble then have Twitter move the goal posts again.

Yup. Someone raised the point recently about all the services Google have just announced that they're going to retire - why on earth would anyone invest in using their services any more? :|

On a related note, the many recent changes to "Google Reader" is going to cause the creator of the "demonic" feed reader a lot of headache. Just about a year ago he re-wrote everything to work really closely with (a few too) many of the Google Reader's features, now he's going to have to do a substantial rewrite again. Ouch! :wall:

Ouch, indeed. And given that he's flat out with his new project, you have to wonder how that's going to work...
