Controlling how much feed content gets shown

I just try the Personal Edition. I have a question. With my present RSS-Reader I can select that I just got a small preview of the item I select in the item list. So the program does not load the page from the internet, it just shows me the title and a short description of the news. I can’t find something like this in Awasu. It is always loading the whole page when I select the item above. Is there any option where I can change this?

Awasu never "loads the page from the Internet" when you open the channel, it simply shows whatever content the publisher has included in their feed. If you are seeing entire articles, that's because the feed contains each article in its entirety (some publishers only include a short excerpt).

Nevertheless, you can still control what Awasu shows in the channel pages. At the top of each embedded browser pane, you will see a toolbar with a button labelled Format. Click on it to see a list of various options that control the presentation of the channel's content.

Note that changes made here only last until the window is closed. If you want to make the changes permanent, do it from the channel's Properties dialog (at the bottom of the Channel page).

Thanks for the fast answer.

What I mean is when I updated a channel and the itemlist shows all the items and than I klick on one of the items, in the window below the address to that item is opened and the whole news is displayed.

The thing is I want to go through all items in the list but perhaps I am just interested in 10 of 30 items. So I want to decide when I klick on an item if I want to read the message behind or delete it and go to the next one without loading. Presently every item is loaded in the window below when I switch through all items with F8.

Regards Kai

Ah, you've hit on a fundamental difference in the way a feed reader can be designed.

Some feed readers, like your old one, show only one item at a time but Awasu has been designed to let you get through a large number of items from a large number of channels very quickly. So, it shows you all the items on a single page which you can quickly scan through and if you're interested in any of them, then you can click through.

You also don't need to be constantly "deleting" items, Awasu does it automatically (you simply configure how long you want to keep stuff and Awasu takes care of the rest).

A lot of people configure their channels to only show unread items and mark things as read if they don't want to see them any more. Or you can configure channels to automatically mark everything as read when you close their window.

RSS is not the same as email, so designing a feed reader to work in exactly the same way as your email program is not the best way to do things :-)

I understand. Yes, every program is different.

It was a nice function to go through an itemlist and just hit "delete" to remove them and when it is interesting just hit a button to load it in the window below (the program I mean is Alnera Feedbuster).

You know in your program it is little bit more work. If you have the whole list in front and you want to read a news you klick it, than in the same window the news is displayed and than you have to hit the back-button to go back to the list and go on. The other way is much easier.

Nevertheless your program has also a lot of nice options other programs don't have. It is not easy to get all.
