Configure Timeout?

At work we have a slooooow network. I frequently get request time out errors. After a few of these, Awasu goes to sleep for 6 hours on each channel. It appears that the timeouts are happening after about 15 seconds. Is there a way to lengthen the timeout interval?

There is currently no way to alter these timeouts.

However, we can put together a special build that has configurable timeouts. If you're interested in helping with the testing of this, send us an email (support@awasu.com) and we'll get it out to you.

Thanks.

What version are you running? I've noticed that the latest, latest releases (e.g. 2.3.2.alpha3) can tend to be more prone to timeout issues...

using 2.3

it's only happened since the isp went from dsl to dsl-2
it's mainly a problem overnight

The 2.3.2 release has already been built so I can't get something into that release to do this but if you shoot me an email when you upgrade to it (release is next week), I'll send you a special build that lets you change the timeouts.

Yah, OK, so when I said <i>"There is currently no way to alter these timeouts"</i>, it was indeed 3 years ago :roll: Seems that I've already added the ability to tweak these timeouts :-)

Set up a <tt>DEBUG.INI</tt> file in your user's home directory that looks like this:

Code: Select all

[Internet Options]
ReceiveTimeout=...

where ... is some value in <i>milliseconds</i> (e.g. 120000 means 2 minutes). I'm not sure if this will do what you want but it's worth a try.

Internally, Awasu will call InternetSetOption() using INTERNET_OPTION_RECEIVE_TIMEOUT which looks like it's the one you want. Many of the other InternetSetOption() values can be tweaked so if you want to try something else, let me know and I'll post what the corresponding INI file key is.

looks like that worked
