Summary, one-click-operation

Hi,

Let's make the summary operation better.

I'd like to hae it operate in such a way, that you can browse summaries one-by-one. Each time the summary item is marked read. One can then choose whether to click to the actual article or not.

Another thing: a shortcut for marking all the channel items read.

Some other aggregators work in such a way that more or less forces you to step through every item in a channel, one at a time, and they can do this kind of thing. Awasu has always had a design philosophy of quality over quantity: I can scan an entire channel's content very quickly if it is all presented in a single page and then choose only the ones I really want to read. Just the item titles is not enough for me to decide whether something is worth reading.

Personally, I'm quite happy with ALT-E,A but you can assign your own keyboard shortcuts - check out the Keyboard page of the Tools|Customize dialog.

Yes, that makes sense. There are pluses and minuses in both approaches, I guess, but yours is ok.

Maybe one way to change it would be to make summary pane "browsable"? That is: ine multiclick operation, the first click would take you to the summary of one item, another to the article. And, a keyboard operation for the same thing, arrow down would take you to the next summary?

For example, the whole - page - summary causes annoyance when there are pictures in every summary, like there is in Dilbert feed.

Thanks for the tip for the shortcut!

I thought about something like that but every time I make something switchable, it greatly increases the amount of testing I have to do since there are so many possible combinations of options :-(

I'm subscribed to several cartoon feeds and the way I handle it is to configure my channels to show only unread items. Every time I open the channel, I mark everything as read so I only ever see one or two cartoons at a time i.e. the new ones. You can also set the maximum number of items a channel should show.
