Hi

There are a few websites that I would like to monitor. However, they require authentication. Is there any easy way I can tell the the MonitorURL (or any other plugin??) the login/password to each?

Thanks!
Halina

You should be able to embed the username/password in the URL like this: <tt>http://USERNAME:PASSWORD@example.com/feed.xml</tt>. This is a standard feature of URL's, not something specific to MonitorUrl so hopefully it will accept it.

:( It doesn't seem to work. I get a 302 error. I suppose it's because it's a regular password protected .php webpage - not a feed.
Any other suggestions?

Thanks

This plugin was not written by us so we can't really offer any more insights :-( The author is spending time with his family over the holidays but hopefully he will be able to help you out when he gets back.

Something was nagging me in the back of my head when I read this :-) A 302 error means that the feed has moved, not an authentication error. See if you can find out what the real URL is.

I've just tried with a couple of other webpages, where there's no RSS feed and where I want to monitor changes. Using a URL that looks like this:

http://USERNAME:PASSWORD@www.domainname ... /index.php

I get a page not found, and the URL that comes along with error notification looks like this:

http:///http://USERNAME:PASSWORD@www.domainname.com/foldername/index.php

Any suggestions?

Thanks -
Halina
