I would like to use Awasu both at home and at work - it would be good if my channel subscriptions could be stored in one place, for instance in my web area.
Awasu could then be told to look there for channel subscriptions.
I would imagine some kind of plugin to allow Awasu to write/update etc..

I know I can probably copy the relevant files and move them to wherever!!

Yep. Being able to sync two installations has been on the to-do list for a while. I've been mulling over it for the past few days and it's actually horrendously complicated :-(

Putting the config files up on a web/ftp site is one option but not everyone has the ability to do this.

Yes, you can do this for the moment. All you need to copy is CONFIG.INI in your user's directory (e.g. C:\Program Files\Awasu\Users\YOUR-NAME) plus everything in the Channels sub-directory.

The poor man's solution would be to export OPML - is this easier - it would be enough for me.
