Advanced settings
This page contains advanced settings for the channel.
- Expire this channel
Awasu will ask you what you want to do with the channel when the specified expiry date passes (e.g. delete, extend or keep it).
This is useful when subscribing to short-lived channels (e.g. comment feeds) or channels that you are not sure you will want to keep. A
default expiry period can be set for all new channels.
- Safe feed content
- Channel folders
Click here to quickly assign the channel to
folders.
This can also be done by dragging the channel around in My Channels but doing it here is often quicker.
- Keep content for
Archives your feed content for the specified amount of time.
- Exclude from search
Excludes the channel's feed content from the
search index.
This is useful if the publisher is putting out feed items with no descriptions or other content that can skew search results.
- Track revised items
Tick this box to keep every revision of a feed item.
This can be used to track what changes a publisher has made to a feed item. If this feature is turned off, only the most recent version of each feed item is kept.
- Show revised items separately
Tick this box to show each revision of a feed item as a separate item.
The normal behavior is to show only the most recent version. Older versions are available by right-clicking on the feed item and choosing
- Download feed items for reading offline
Downloads linked-to feed items for
reading offline.
Images embedded in the web pages can also be downloaded but will increase the amount of disk space needed.
Channel hooks
Channel hooks are small programs that Awasu runs to do something as each channel is processed. For example, hooks can be used to send out emails when new items arrive or store them in a database if they meet certain requirements.
To attach a hook to a channel, click on the green plus icon and browse to the appropriate .HOOK file (they will usually be stored in the ChannelHooks sub-directory).
The My Channels context menu may contain special commands (if any are available) for hooks that have been attached to a channel. These commands are also available from the main menu.
