Awasu 0.3 (19 November 2002)
By this time, I had annoyed the living daylights out of every single Japanese-speaking
person I knew and had finally settled on the name Awasu. It now ran as proper program
with a proper UI. In the screenshot you can see the startup page and the channel
subscriptions.
The window on the left also had a section for My Searches (not implemented
in this release) which was to contain search agents that would monitor feed content
as it came in. There was also a section for channel directories such as Syndic8
and News Is Free (also not implemented) and one for servers that would push
content into Awasu (yep, also not implemented).
Here you can see a channel summary page. For some reason, I had chosen
a tan, papery background, proving yet again there is a reason why
you should never let developers design the UI. It was a long time
before somebody pointed out how ugly it looked :-) In another display
of uncreativity, you can also see the satellite icon that I was using for channels.
The configuration options started to take shape in this release:
