A number of people have asked if it is possible to change the appearance of the summary page that is displayed when you first open each channel. The answer is yes, but it is an undocumented feature at present. While there is nothing in the user interface that allows you to change things, it is easy to do.

Changing the default appearance

You will find two files in your user's directory (e.g. C:\Program Files\Awasu\users\YOUR-NAME):

• DefaultChannelSummary.jpg: This is the background used for the summary page. If this is all you want to change, just copy a new file on top of this one.
• DefaultChannelSummary.template: This is an HTML template for the channel summary page. If you know a bit of HTML, you can modify this file to change the way that each channel is presented. The tags contained between {% and %} are place-holders and will be replaced by each channel's specific details. In particular, note the {%REPEAT% FeedItems} tag. This section of HTML, up to the closing {%/REPEAT%} tag, will be repeated once for each item currently in the channel feed.

Note that changing these files will affect all channels that don't have a specific background image or template configured. The next section explains how to set these.

Changing a single channel's appearance

IMPORTANT: You must ensure that Awasu is not running before you do any channel-specific customization.

If you want to customize the appearance of a single channel, first find that channel's .RSS or .PLUGIN configuration file in the CHANNELS directory (e.g. C:\Program Files\Awasu\users\YOUR-NAME\Channels). You will find two entries that look something like this:

Simply specify the full path-names of the background and template files you want to use for this channel.
