Tumbleweed bounces by…

Just kidding. It’s been a bit quiet on the whoa-that’s-such-a-cool-feature front recently but it’s not like I’ve been sitting around doing nothing these past weeks.

Here’s a list of some of the major features that have already been implemented:

• Added the ability to search your feeds.
• Implemented auto-discovery. Web sites can advertise the fact that they have a feed and Awasu now detects this and tells you if you are not already subscribed. But even if a web site is not using this feature, Awasu is smart enough to find links that may be feeds and verifies them. This is cool And useful, in case you were worried that you didn’t have enough feeds
• Added support for Dublin Core, content:encoded and xhtml:body. This means that you will be seeing a lot more content in certain channels.
• Added the ability to control how feed content is presented. You can either show each feed item in full (the current behaviour), a short excerpt (useful if publishers have really long feed items) or plain-text (if you’re worried about possbile security problems in HTML).
• Improved the way Awasu loads channels at startup so that it no longer hangs the UI if you have a lot of channels.
• Optimized the saving of Channel Properties and Program Options. These dialogs save and close a lot faster now
• Added an option to disable notification balloons at startup. This is useful if you have a lot of channels since it can take a while to get through them all
• Lots of minor bug fixes and enhancements.

And there’s more cool stuff yet to come! The next beta should be released early September.
