Draft content, not ready for publication!

The following usage pattern is from kevotheclone's experience and relies heavily upon mostly default keyboard shortcuts. There is one custom keyboard shortcut used; instructions are provided at the end of this topic on how to add this custom keyboard shortcut.

The process

  1. Press F4 to display the My Channels tab of Awasu's Control Center (if it is not already displayed).
  2. Select a Channel Filter such as New content or Unread items or any other Channel Filter that suits your purposes as long as it restricts content to New or Unread. 1
  3. Click on the Channel that you want to read or press Ctrl+O to open the currently selected Channel.
  4. Scroll (scanning/reading) through the Channel's feed items, either in the Item pane or in the Browser pane.
    • In the Browser pane you can press the Spacebar to scroll downward one screen of feed items. Conversely pressing Shift+Spacebar will scroll one screen of feed items upward (just in case you over-scroll).
    • Read some items completely or send items to read later to a Workpad or to an online service like delicious.com using Awasu's Send to Tools.
  5. When you have finished scanning/reading the current Channel press F12 to mark all items in the current Channel as read (this is a custom keyboard shortcut, instructions at the end of this topic). If you perfer to use your mouse, right click the Channel in the My Channels display and select Mark all as read. You can also right click any feed item in the Item pane and select Mark all as read too.
Marking all of the Channel's feed items as "read" will cause the Channel to disappear from the My Channels display, and the "next" Channel in the display will now be "highlighted"
  6. Press Ctrl+O to open the currently selected channel. 1

Repeat steps 4-6 until all channels have been read.

1 If you choose to use a Channel Filter that does not restrict content to New or Unread, then pressing the Ctrl+O in step 6 will not open the "next" Channel as your current Channel will not have disappeared from the My Channels display and will still be the current, "highlighted" Channel. In this scenario you should press the F10 key instead of Ctrl+O.

Variations

If you want to view your current Channel or a specific web page in a larger window press the F11 key to switch to Full Screen View; pressing F11 again will close Full Screen View.
